Our Process

We realize that building your dream home can be daunting. But it doesn’t have to be! Let us do all the hard stuff while you watch it take shape.


We take every step possible to ensure that everything is accounted for ahead of time so that there are no surprises along the way. Then our project management and sub-contractors, some of the best in the business, will work together every step of the way and will always be available to answer questions. Here is a general breakdown of the construction process:

    The Planning

    Give us a call! We’re friendly and we like to talk! One quick and easy phone call and you’ll have a wealth of knowledge on where to start.

    Communication is a big part of the home building process and it’s the foundation of the builder/client relationship. What is your vision of the perfect home for you and your family? Is your idea of relaxation a quiet sitting area, a game room, or a home theater? Do you like to entertain? These are just a few questions you may ask yourself while deciding on the space and features of your new home. This is the first step to finding your perfect house plan which will be the backbone of the project. We can make modifications to any of our floor plans or you can work with our draftsman or your own to come up with something completely custom-tailored to you.

    Site Evaluation

    Each building site has its own unique characteristics. We will be happy to do a “no strings attached” site evaluation on the lot of your choice. At this time you will meet with your construction supervisor at the site to answer questions like how your home will be positioned on the lot, what trees will need to be cleared, and what utilities are available.

    Select the Details

    Though many of the fine details will be finalized later in the build process, we want to talk with you early on to decide on most of the materials and finishes that match your sense of home. Every selection is then itemized into a “Description of Materials” which is given to you and shared with the design/build team. This minimizes questions or confusion that may impact the budget or the timeline of your project.

    At this stage of the building process, we have a clear plan in place. All of the details are accounted for and your house will begin to take shape. You can be involved as much as you like or leave the whole process up to us with total peace of mind. You can visit the site as often as you like and will have direct contact with the superintendent to answer questions. You can even check out pictures in the ‘Builds in Progress’ section of this website as we move along!

    We anticipate and accommodate for any issues related to the site or natural terrain. We manage all zoning and building codes, the permitting process, inspections, orders and deliveries, and the dozens of skilled craftsman that build your home from the ground up. We even have our own custom wood shop where we can build one-of-a-kind features just for you. The entire construction process takes about 5 to 6 months on average.

    When your home is complete, you’ll have a final walk-through with the project manager to ensure that all systems and finishes are correct. This however, is not the end of the story. At Mongold Homes we take pride in customer satisfaction and will be there for you when you need us. We do an additional walk-through one year after closing and we are always within reach for any help and advise about your home. Plus all Mongold homes come with a 10 year transferable RWC warranty! You will also receive a sub-contractor list with all of the contact information for each and every one that worked on your home, an energy rating report on your home, and a decorating sheet that outlines colors, tile, carpet, cabinets, etc.
